My Story
I have to confess to you. I'm afraid to fly with airplanes. And I have to fly a dozen times each year for business or travel purposes.
In the past, each time I was going to enter the airplane, I looked in the airplane cockpit through the pilot window to see what is he doing. When you are outside of the airplane doors, you know that moment, warred about the flight, waiting for the other passengers in front of you to enter and sit down.
And each time, I saw the pilot writing on a paper very focused. Always I asked myself. Is he writing his memories? Or is he reading the flight manual very carefully and is taking notes?
The response is simple. I found it 'googling' for a while. The pilot is doing his checklists before take off - pre-flight checklist. In fact, the life of a pilot is full of checklists. β
By doing a checklist, we are very sure that we do not forget anything. Especially when we are doing something complicated, and we are under pressure.
And life today it becomes more and more complicated. A lot of what we do today is like flying airplanes. We can forget something important that can cause disasters.
Not disasters in the air, but still disasters.
For example, we forgot to check for a landing page if our site works for all the browsers. A ton of users will not see the site content because of this.
Maybe we, not backup our production data for our web application. We can lose it at once and never recover.
Or we not secure our site properly. And someone is getting all the user credentials using SQL injection.
